Me on 31 Aug

Its Independence day and the official end of my long leave. Back to work tomorrow. Let the routine begin!

I received a message today that reads like this 'if you had a chance to ask for forgiveness from 1 person, who will it be?'. I was taken aback with this message. Tears began to build in my eyes. Was I impressed? Shocked? Not sure of my feelings at that point. It did however also put a smile in my face. I never thought of the person sending me such message after the pain he has put me through all these years.

I have long gotten over the pain though I have never forgotten what has happened. It was never about his actions but more of his words. Sharp, hurting words. Everything I have ever done for him was down the drain in split second. I'm not sure if I'm ready to forgive him though I sometimes feel that it is not his fault for the things that has happened. I believe in karma. I believe that it was my karma that I have been put through those horrible moments. I was also dumbly in love with him. When all this comes together, I'm not sure where his fault lies.

He was just being a guy. Cheat, two timing is what most guys do, especially young, immature ones. We were young and immature at that point. He wasn't ready to settle down and I was crazily in love that I was willing to do anything for him. Anything. I still hurt when I think of the past. However, all this thing that happened has not stopped me from messaging him or even talking to him once awhile. He is happily married with a child now. I don't want to be a part of his life anymore but the fact that i;m always in his mind is comforting. What it means? Can we be friends? I don't know. I will let the days ahead of us to decide if this bond is a life time.

Ain't nothing from the past coming back...

Not a 'what-if' in sight,
On the horizon in my mind.
Neither am I trying to find,
An 'I wonder'.
Today has much more relevance
With something about it that can be changed...
If my movements within it persist as wished.
I live to correct my own steps within minutes,
Without preconditions.

I'm concentrating on that which I can do right now.
And letting the breath I breathe be experienced,
As it is to myself witnessed.
My eyes are open and I am kept ready to adjust.
Those wishing for the taste of grandma's cakes,
Cookies and homemade pies...
Are finding it hard to adapt to facts.
Ain't nothing from the past coming back...naturally!
However...

Maybe an habitual headache from a process is desired.
And one that welcomes an attachment loved when attacked.
From those unseen relatives living away long distance,
And coming to visit and admittedly missed.
Shouldering hopeful grievances to unload and stress to match.

Zeus

Thousands of years ago many people believed in a god named Zeus. He was considered to be the god of the sky and weather and his image appeared on most Greek coins. The people of Greece worshipped this idol as their god. Zeus became one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Phidias, a famous Greek sculptor and his laborers carved a giant statue of Zeus in a special workshop behind the temple. It was made entirely of ivory and gold (Chryselephantine). When finished it sat in the temple on an elaborate throne along with sculptures and paintings of Greek myths and legends. Zeus was the most celebrated statue of ancient times because of its greatness, charm and worth.

Zeus was the supreme god and ruler of Olympus. He was known by many titles: Lord of the Sky, the Cloud- gatherer, the Rain-god and Zeus the Thunderer, all of which show which force of nature was considered to be the most important in Ancient World - rain. In most other mythologies the "ruler-god" was usually associated with the sun, but in Greece the climate is hot and dry making rain the scarce, life-giving force.
Zeus was the sixth child born to Cronus and Rhea, Because Cronus, ruler of the Titans and the supreme god at the time, was afraid that one of his children would overthrow him, just like he overthrew his father, Uranus, he swallowed his first five children - Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter and Hestia. This, of course, infuriated Rhea and when Zeus was born she tricked Cronus into swallowing a rock wrapped in blankets. Zeus is more powerful than any other god or even all the other gods combined. But, unlike many gods in other religions he was neither omnipotent nor omniscient. He could be, and in fact was, opposed, deceived and tricked by gods and men alike. His power, although great, was not boundless, Zeus had no control over The Fates and Destiny. Like all Greek divinities, Zeus was subject to pleasure, pain, grief, and anger, but he was most susceptible to the power of Eros - love, which often got the objects of his desire in a lot of trouble with his wife, Hera.

Zeus was mighty, glorious, awesome and wise, although he did show a certain degree of surprising foolishness and naiveness when it came to hiding his love affairs. Some historians attribute this less than noble behavior of the "noblest one of all" to the fact that Zeus was most likely a compilation of many "supreme gods" from different areas. When his worship spread to an area which already worshipped another god, some of that god’s qualities as well as his wife or lover were transferred to Zeus. Aside from the endless affairs Zeus was different from other gods in that he did not participate in the arguments and the resulting petty scheming that made up the daily activities of other gods. Being this wise ruler, he also demanded just and righteous action from men. Zeus was however vengeful, as can be seen in The creation of man by Prometheus, but only rightly so.

Zeus had two special attendants, Nike (Victoria), the goddess of victory, and his cup-bearer, Hebe, who was one of his numerous daughters. After Hebe married Heracles, Ganymede replaced her as the cup-bearer for Zeus. In Roman Mythology, Zeus’ counterpart, Jupiter, was also attended by Fama (fame) and Fortuna (luck and chance, Tyche in Greek). Zeus was the guardian of political order and peace. The aegis is his breastplate - so glorious and at the same time awful to behold that no human could see Zeus in all his magnificence and survive. His weapon is, of course the thunderbolt which he hurled at whoever displeased him. The thunderbolts were fashioned for him the three Cyclopes who also were the deciding power in the battle with the Titans. His bird is the Eagle, his tree - the Oak. Dodona was his oracle. His will was revealed by the rustling of oak leaves which was interpreted by his priests.

Reality shows

So,what is the deal with reality shows? I mean shows like amazing race, survivor etc shows its purpose but what about shows like kardashians, guliana n bill, kimora and even the bachelors. Are these real or act? If its act, they might as well turn it into drama like desperate housewives or cougar town. The dramas shows reality through acting. I feel like reality shows are such rip offs. They in no way depict reality. I think a lot of the reality shows have now done away with the reality part of them and have became rather scripted which sort of defeats the purpose. So, why show at all? Money? glamour? Publicity? No, they call it entertainment. They are popular because they appeal to people's voyeuristic tendencies.

Our current society desires reality. People yearn to see themselves on TV; and if not themselves then any other middle class or celebrity. they try to live through the rich and glamorous. The undeniable popularity of reality shows says a lot about the current world lifestyle and culture. A scripted reality has the eerie possibility of transforming relationships in the unscripted world. For whichever reason, our society is being exploited and portrayed as a dramatized, rehearsed, and utterly shallow mess of bad judgment and depleting values.

Producers of reality TV do not realize the harm they are causing by brainwashing us into thinking that real world people and events are as portrayed TV. When young girls see that the prettiest and skinniest girl wins everytime, a dangerous stereotype emerges. When sex, explicit or subliminal, is a recurring theme in almost all reality shows, explicit or subliminal, our society is portrayed with no moral compass.

The reality is that what TV deems REAL is actually distracting society from what really matters: preserving the family, education, culture, morale, having control over our government, and feeling safe at home. The continuous desire for reality TV supports the misrepresentation and hegemony of western and entices other, more conservative nations to frown upon world's culture.

Someone, somewhere has pre-determined what our society believes as REAL and they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Middle Class?

James E. McWhinney, On Friday August 27, 2010, 3:49 pm EDT

Not so long ago, most people viewed the hallmarks of success as something along the lines of a house, a white picket fence, two weeks vacation, two children and the ability to send those kids to college. Today, the middle class is a vanishing breed according to nearly every survey and statistic on the topic. Its disappearance is of such grave concern to the fabric of American society that the U.S. government launched a task force to explore the issue. Despite all of the attention to the subject, defining "middle class" remains a challenge, as everyone wants to be in the middle regardless of their income. Instead of focusing on the dollars, let's take a look at the lifestyle benchmarks that define middle class status.

Have You Made it to the Middle?

A wide variety of numbers have been thrown around in an effort to define the middle. People earning 20% of the average income and people earning 80% all claim to be part of the middle class. More than a few millionaires make the claim too. While there is no official financial standard, the middle class as defined by the government task force is characterized in terms of six financial aspirations, which we can view as benchmarks.

•Home Ownership

Home ownership remains the American dream. The step up from renting to owning signifies prosperity and achievement. With median home prices ranges differing by so much in different cities across the United States, the ability to achieve this goal varies significantly by geographical location. Someone earning an income in the 50% range in Detroit may not be able to afford even a small house in Los Angeles.

•Automobile Ownership

Owning an automobile provides freedom of movement and the luxury of avoiding the limited schedules and cramped quarters offered by mass transportation options such as buses and subways. Here again, the cost of cars varying widely, as does the kind of automobile required. For one driver, a used Hyundai will do the trick. For another, a new BMW signifies the achievement of this goal.

•A College Education for the Kids

Helping children get ahead in life is a primary goal for middle class families. Paying for a college education for children can cost anywhere from the low tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands. Decisions about which university of college to attend can have a significant impact on the price tag.

•Retirement Security

Retirement is a goal nearly everyone wants to achieve. It demonstrates success and provides a reward for decades of hard work. Once again, definitions make a difference. The amount of gold required to support your golden years will vary significantly depending on whether you want a staff of 10 at your villa in the South of France or a townhouse in Peoria, Illinois.

•Health Care Coverage

The ability to obtain healthcare is an important goal for middle class wager earners and their families. The high and rising cost of medical care and prescription drugs make healthcare coverage an ever-increasing need, as going without it can have serious negative financial implications in the event of a severe illness or injury.
\mily Vacation

The family vacation is a middle class staple. Vacations demonstrate that a family has disposable income and has been successful enough to take time away from work to focus on leisure.

What Happened on the Way to the Dream?

Globalization and technological advances began to reverse the growth of the middle class. The manufacturing base in the United States changed, as good-paying jobs in factories and heavy industries went overseas to lower-paying markets and labor unions lost much of their ability to bargain for high wages and good benefits. Later, white-collar jobs from accounting and data entry to reading medical images and answering telephones in call centers were also sent offshore. Many jobs that remained in the U.S. were eliminated by computers and other technological advancements that increased productivity.

To achieve or maintain a middle-class lifestyle, many households became two-income families. Achieving middle class goals became more difficult as employers eliminated their pension plans and defined-benefit plans, the cost of a college education continued to rise and the cost of healthcare jumped. For most of the 20-year period following 1990, the Commerce Department reports that real median income grew at a rate of about 20%, while the cost of a college education grew between 43% and 60%, the cost of housing rose 56% and healthcare costs jumped by 155%.

How to Get There

Although there are significant challenges to obtaining middle class status, there are some proactive steps that can help make the dream a reality. Budgeting is one of the most obvious. Understanding where your money goes each month can help you determine the exact makeup of the benchmarks you are trying to match. Are you looking for a Hyundai or a BMW?

Planning is another crucial step. Are the kids going to a state university or a private college? Are scholarships an option? Some savvy families find money for college by participating in programs which can aide families with the costs related to sending a child to university.

Working is another one of the requirements. A second job or a side business might be just what you need to boost your income and achieve some of your goals. Putting your money to work is also an important consideration. Investing has helped build wealth for generations. In fact, income earners ranked in the top 1% enjoyed significant increases in wealth even as the middle class fell into decline. Most of that wealth came from investments. Even if you don't have the means to invest for current income, you can take a few dollars from each paycheck and save for your retirement.

The Bottom Line

Don't underestimate the role of hard work and luck. Sometimes being in the right place at the right time or taking one particular course of action over another can make all the difference. So keep watching for opportunities and make the most of them when you find them. As motion-picture mogul Samuel Goldwyn said, "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

Me on 29 Aug

Another day spent sitting at home, catching up with tele shows. The heat is unbelievable. Hot, hot, sweat and more sweat. Is this some kind of heat wave? The heat is causing headache. I cant take a nap. Emmm..listen to me complaining on trivial matter.

I watched Oprah today. A women was recounting the moment her husband tried to kill her. She survived. Amazing story. Such cruelty. I have always wondered what drives people to kill. Psychology? Hate? Passion? Love? Jealousy? The list goes on. I have read the accounts of murderers, especially serial killers. Most are from broken family, childhood trauma etc.

But what really get them going? The voices? The urge that they could cleanse the world of evil wrongdoings? What is it? Human are such a complex creatures. How the creators thought of such details is astounishing. This truly shows that there is a higher power at work..be it good or evil. It is out there.

Me on 27 Aug

I practically spent the entire day on bed. Its just an extremely lazy day. Only stepped out to collect the pizza. The kind of day rarely comes by where you get to spend time by yourself, for yourself. I was suppose to go for a picnic but I opt out. Lazy.

Life could be such a routine. How we do it repeatedly is beyond me. Is this what life goes on means? Maybe, This is a choice we make in how we want to live our lives. This is whats in store for those who are afraid to take chances and try new things, Resistance to change? Maybe. We are to comfortable with our lives. While much time is wasted thinking how monotonous our lives are, none is spent to live it up. We are afraid of the dissapointment, failure.

Im one of those people.

OMG!!!! The Last Exorcism Poster

                                                how SCARY is THIS!!!?????

Behold the awesome power of the fire tornado

It turns out that "firestorm" isn't just a figure of speech.

In a scene that looks like something straight out of the Book of Revelation, brushfires in Brazil combined with strong wind gusts to spark a tornado of fire. The bizarre weather event trailed flames in its wake as it touched down in the town of Aracatuba and around its surrounding countryside. Aracatuba hasn't seen any rain in three months.

The flames brought traffic to a halt on a nearby road then disappeared.

Archaeologists uncover 3,500-year-old Egypt city

CAIRO (Reuters) - Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a 3,500-year-old settlement in one of Egypt's desert oases that predates earlier cities by a millennium, the Ministry of Culture said on Wednesday.

The Yale University mission excavating in Umm El-Kharga Oasis, one of Egypt's five western deserts, located some 200 km south of Cairo, stumbled upon the find while working to map ancient routes in the Western Desert.

The settlement lies along what used to be bustling caravan routes connecting the Nile Valley of Egypt with the western oasis and stretching to Darfur in Sudan, the statement said. The site reached its peak in the late Middle Kingdom (1786-1665 BC).

Remnants of an ancient bakery such as two ovens and a potters wheel used to make ceramic bread moulds in which bread was baked were also found, suggesting the site was a major food centre, said mission head John Darnell.

Moments

I am on my way, on my way to see you
I've been waiting
Waiting for the moment where I can touch your face
It has been a while
The distance between us is vast
I won't have to wait much longer
I am getting closer
Closer to you, and closer to home
I place I often dread but also love
I love the comfort it brings me
But dread the stress that comes upon me
It was for a split second that I thought it was over
I thought I can move on
Find someone else
That second passed quickly
I am now sitting here wondering if you are thinking about me
The time is continuing to pass,
and still I am waiting
Soon, the moment will come when time will be still
and it'll just be you and me
Waiting, I am waiting for that moment

Me on 25 Aug

Its my moms birthday today. I didn't wish her. I picked up a cake that my sister ordered and paid for but then lied to my mom that I bought it. Do i love her? Of course. I have never been good at expressing my feelings. I have always been a loner. I don't know how to tell people that I love them.

When I think about it, I am at an opinion that I'm like this because I want to avoid disappointment and heartbreak. I'm not sure if its valid but i feel like I'm emotionally retarded. I just hope that the people around me will understand that I love them dearly but unable to express it.

Happy birthday mom. I love you.

Unbreak my Heart!

Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Come back and bring back my smile
Come and take these tears away
I need your arms to hold me now
The nights are so unkind
Bring back those nights when I held you beside me

Unbreak my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked outta my life
Uncry these tears
I cried so many nights
Unbreak my heart, my heart

Take back that sad word good-bye
Bring back the joy to my life
Don't leave me here with these tears
Come and kiss this pain away
I can't forget the day you left
Time is so unkind
And life is so cruel without you here beside me

Ohh, oh
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Bring back the nights when I held you beside me

Unbreak my
Unbreak my heart, oh baby
Come back and say you love me
Unbreak my heart
Sweet darlin'
Without you I just can't go on
Can't go on

Harmony of Interests

With a proper understanding of one's interests, it can be seen that there is a harmony of interests between rational men. That we benefit enormously from positive interactions with others. This benefit comes in the form of the abundance of wealth made possible by a Capitalism, to the continuing increase of knowledge available to mankind. It comes in the form of friendships, romantic love, and the support of one's family. The harmony of interests bring men together in peaceful cooperation to benefit their lives. This is the bedrock of society. It is why people choose to live in a society.

Although the desires of men may be opposed, their interests are not. Living in a peaceful society is of incalculable benefit to man. Any possible advantage gain from living outside of a peaceful society is insignificant compared to the loss. For instance, living in a wilderness may bring you more peace and quiet, but it is at the expense of friendships and the enormous material wealth possible in a society.

The harmony of interests only exists between rational men. Irrational men and the use of force are not in the interests of other men. Men's interests are only in harmony with peaceful, voluntary interactions. Only when men live by the Trader Principle do their interests unite. Only when men accept persuasion and trade do they become a benefit to other men.

7 Best Stress-Fighting Foods

Papaya

Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a magic nutrient that could stop the flow of stress hormones—the very hormones that make your body superefficient at storing fat calories? Wouldn’t you want to gobble that food up like crazy, especially if it tasted great? Half a medium papaya carries nearly 75 percent more vitamin C than an orange, and provides potent protection against stress. Researchers at the University of Alabama found 200 milligrams of vitamin C—about as much as you’ll find in one large papaya—twice a day nearly stopped the flow of stress hormones in rats. It should work for you, too.
Other smart sources of vitamin C: Red bell peppers, broccoli, oranges

Peppermint Tea

The mere scent of peppermint helps you focus and boosts performance, according to researchers. Another study discovered that peppermint tea makes drivers more alert and less anxious.
Other smart sources of peppermint: Peppermint candy and peppermint oil

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are loaded with stress-busting potential thanks to high levels of magnesium. Only about 30 percent of us meet our daily magnesium requirements, placing the rest of us at a higher risk for stress symptoms such as headaches, anxiety, tension, fatigue, insomnia, nervousness and high blood pressure. (Basically we’re frayed wires, and magnesium is the electrical tape that can pull us back together.) A quarter cup of pumpkin seeds gives you half your day’s magnesium requirements.
Other smart sources of magnesium: Spinach, Swiss chard, black beans, soybeans, salmon

Avocados

The healthy fats buried in the avocado’s flesh make it an ideal choice when you’re craving something rich and creamy. The reasons? Monounsaturated (healthy) fatty acids, and potassium--both of which help combat high blood pressure. Avocado fat is 66 percent monounsaturated, and gram-for-gram, the green fruit has about 35 percent more potassium than a banana. Whip up a fresh guacamole or slice a few slivers over toast and top with fresh ground pepper.
Other smart sources of potassium: Squash, papaya, spinach, bananas, lentils

Salmon

Not only does omega-3 fat protect against heart disease and cognitive decline, but according to a study from Diabetes & Metabolism, the wonder fat is also responsible for maintaining healthy levels of cortisol. And what’s the world’s best source of omega-3s? Salmon. But there’s another trick in salmon’s arsenal—a sleep-promoting amino acid called tryptophan. One salmon filet has as much tryptophan as you need in an entire day, and if there’s one remedy for stress, it’s a good night of blissful Zs.
Other smart sources of omega-3 fats: Flaxseeds, walnuts, sardines, halibut
Other smart sources of tryptophan: Chicken, tuna, beef, soybeans

Almonds

The almond's first stress-buster is the aforementioned monounsaturated fats, but at risk of belaboring that point, let’s look at another almond-centered, mind-calming nutrient: vitamin E. In one study, Belgium researchers treated pigs with a variety of nutrients just before sticking them in a transportation simulator (basically a vibrating crate). After 2 hours of simulation, only those pigs treated with tryptophan and vitamin E had non-elevated levels of stress hormones. Almonds, thankfully, are loaded with vitamin E. To reach your day’s requirement from almonds alone, you need to eat about 40 to 50 nuts. Or you can mix them with other vitamin-E rich foods to save calories and add more dietary variety.
Other smart sources of vitamin E: Sunflower seeds, olives, spinach, papaya

Oatmeal

A biochemical effect of stress is a depleted stock of serotonin, the hormone that makes you feel cool, calm, and in control. One reliable strategy for boosting serotonin back to healthy levels is to increase your intake of carbohydrates. That said, scarfing down Ding Dongs and doughnuts isn’t a sustainable solution. Rather, to induce a steady flow of serotonin, aim to eat fiber-rich, whole-grain carbohydrates. The slower rate of digestion will keep seratonin production steady and prevent the blood sugar rollar-coaster that leads to mood swings and mindless eating.

Cute Panda!

VIENNA – A giant panda has given birth to a healthy cub in Austria — the second in just three years. The Schoenbrunn Zoo said Tuesday the newborn measures between 10 and 12 centimeters (4 to 5 inches) and weighs about 100 grams (3.5 ounces). The zoo says that keepers monitoring the panda enclosure first discovered the newcomer Monday afternoon when they heard squeaking in an area to which mother Yang Yang had retreated. The unnamed cub, whose gender has yet to be determined, shares the same birthday as its sibling Fu Long, who charmed his way into the hearts of Austrians before leaving for the Bifengxia panda base in China last year.

Top official in Bosnia said Angelina Jolie is interested in supporting education and other projects to help young Bosnians and people who return to homes they left during the war. Haris Silajdzic, chairman of Bosnia's three-member Presidency, said Saturday after meeting the actress that she asked about ideas for projects she could support and they both concluded that "the absolute priority is education". The aim would be turn Sarajevo into a regional center of education, Silajdzic said.

Jolie visited Bosnia in April as UNHCR ambassador and drew attention to the plight of 117,000 people who haven't able to return to their homes even though the Bosnia war ended 15 years ago.

Merdeka!

Work was, is peaceful today so far. No much work, at least pressing ones. Things are on schedule. Can't wait for the weekend. Its holiday on Friday and I'm going on vacation till nest Wednesday. Really looking forward for the off days. Our National Day is approaching. How many of us know our country's history? Or what our ancestors has gone through for us to enjoy the present? What does Merdeka mean to you?

The day Merdeka was declared!
Frankly, I have never attached any flag to my car, or dressed up in clothes with our flag design, or even eaten a flag-decorated cake. Often, I laugh at my sister who unceremoniously puts a flag at our front porch. Unpatriotic? But I never fail to sing our national anthem or watched the raising of our flag in a ceremony, with a feeling of pride in my heart. I get goosebumps when our nation is mentioned. Such high regards for a country that once the Western knew nothing about. Today, we are a famous tourist spot and sought out education hub. There is no doubt we Malaysians have become more sophisticated and matured. We have entered the international scene and created world-class businesses.

Independence is the freedom from the rule of powers that who are not meant to be. But the situation the country is in currently is not bad but questionable. At a different part of time, there is a different variable and hence a unjust comparison to the past doesn't show much about those who compare BUT having said that, this is my country, its your country. True Malaysians are not born, they are made. The Merdeka spirit resides in our hearts, and is reflected through our daily actions, our work, our lives, our sacrifices, our contributions to this beloved country called Malaysia.

MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!

How tight my arms get when they are aroud you
The way you make me write this without a clue
How you don't even know nothing about this
Or how happy you make me
The way you make me happy
I feel so happy when i'm around you
Never wanting to hurt you because of how happy i get
You just make me so happy

Unicorn

Such a beauty!

A dream...

Sagittarius

The Sagittarius is really a centaur -- the lower half is horse, the upper half is a man. The man is holding a bow with an arrow aimed upwards toward the sky. This symbolizes the Sagittarius' drive to overcome basic animal instincts by aiming his thoughts into the divine realms of the heavens. In other words, Sagittarius is hunting for ideas and experiences that draw you into greater awareness. As such, Sagittarius tend to love adventure, travel and philosophy -- all ways of extending beyond your immediate surroundings.

Sagittarius tend to aim their arrows of thought upward, being the incurable optimists of the zodiac. Sagittarius often look at the sunny side of life and the silver lining to any dark cloud. Sagittarius are honest to a fault, for you can say what's on your mind before you realize that someone's feelings might be hurt. Since the Sagittarius is part horse, there is also a connection between Sagittarius and horses, be it a love of riding or an emphasis on the most powerful part of a horse: its legs and thighs. In fact, many of Sagittarius love outdoor hiking and long distance running.
The Sagittarius motto is "It is better to know how to learn than to know." You seek knowledge and wisdom, never tiring of the quest for what is yet to come. Others enjoy being with you when you are in your outgoing and joyful mood, but you can become more sullen if you feel that your wings have been clipped. Even in a restrictive situation, however, you'll not lose hope--and it is this inspirational perspective that leads you to your greatest success.

Element: Fire

Fire signs are naturally warm. A fire gives light and heat, but it doesn't get depleted as others feed on its warmth. One candle can bring light to a room and it won't burn any faster if ten people read from its light than if there was only one. Fire doesn't plan its next move; it isn't logical. It simply is in the moment and will burn what fuel is available without judgment or forethought. For this reason fire signs can successfully rely on their intuition and survival instincts.

The fire of Sagittarius is warming, not hot -- but that's because it's far away. It's like a light in the distance that reminds us why we are heading in that direction or the stars that have been used for navigation. This is the fire of inspiration whose heat can motivate the mind to reach out into the wilderness.

Ninth House: Travel

If the Third House is the House of Quick Trips, then the opposite Ninth House could be called the House of Long Distance Journeys. It's about foreign travel, higher education -- for that's travel in the mind and the potential adventure that the future holds.

Key Planet: Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and as such symbolizes an expansive action. He is the king of bigger, better and more. But, of course, too much of a good thing isn't necessarily good, and Jupiter can encourage us to overspend or overindulge. Jupiter acts like a magnifying lens and can make a little opportunity look larger than life. As the key planet of Sagittarius, Jupiter encourages us to take those opportunities, to live life as an adventure and to believe in something greater than ourselves.
Your Biggest Strength: Your undying optimistic attitude

Your Potential Weakness: Glossing over problems or avoiding difficult situations

Toothpaste

Faced with dozens of different products promising to make your teeth fresher, whiter and cavity-free, it’s no wonder you wander aimlessly down the toothpaste aisle. To help you pick wisely, we turned to the pros for the scoop on what ingredients to look for, whether gel or paste formulas are right for you and just how much you need to squeeze onto your brush. It’s never too late to get your pearly whites in tip-top shape, so read on to find out how!

1. It’s all about the fluoride.

With a host of ingredients in toothpaste, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s essential. But no matter what your individual needs are (i.e., tartar control, whitening, breath-freshening and so on), dental hygienists agree that fluoride is a must. According to the Academy of General Dentistry, brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice daily can reduce tooth decay by as much as 40 percent. “Even in areas where there is water fluoridation, the added fluoride in toothpaste has been shown to be very beneficial,” says Caryn Loftis-Solie, RDH, president of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA).

2. Look for the seal of approval.

While it’s tempting to save some cash with a generic brand of toothpaste, you may actually be getting an ineffective—and potentially harmful—product. “You should always look for the ADA Seal when choosing a toothpaste,” says Clifford Whall, PhD, director of the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance Program. “Only those products have the scientific data to back up their claims and have been proven to meet our criteria for safety and effectiveness.” With 50-plus approved toothpastes on shelves, it’s easy to find a tube that’s right for you and your budget.

3. Whitening toothpastes work—at least to a certain degree.

Countless products promise a whiter smile, but do they really deliver? “Whitening toothpastes—like all toothpastes—contain mild abrasives to help remove surface stains on your teeth,” says Dr. Whall. “The shape of the particles used in whitening products, though, is modified to clean those stains away better, so you’ll see a noticeable difference in how your teeth look.” However, according to Dr. Whall, these products don’t contain bleach, making it impossible for them to brighten your smile as dramatically as professional whitening treatments.

4. Less is more.

Despite what you see on commercials, a brush full of toothpaste won’t clean your pearly whites any better than half that amount, according to E. Jane Crocker, RHD, president of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association. “All you need is a pea-size amount of toothpaste—yes, I mean the little green vegetable!” Not only will that get the job done effectively (by cleaning and removing plaque, stains and food debris), you’ll also extend the life of your tube.

5. How you brush is more important than what you brush with.

You can buy the best toothpaste and toothbrush on the market, but if you aren’t brushing correctly you won’t see results. “To do it properly, you need to position the brush at a 45 degree angle so that you get some of the bristles in between the tooth and the gums,” says Dr. Whall. “Move the brush in small circles in those areas, and then continue on to the rest of the teeth. This process should take about one to two minutes to complete.” View the ADA’s step-by-step guide to brushing and flossing here.

6. Organic toothpastes can be just as effective as regular.

If you’re willing to spend a little more to go green, natural and organic toothpastes can be a good eco-friendly alternative to commercial brands—provided they contain fluoride. “Natural and organic toothpastes that include fluoride in their ingredients are as effective as regular toothpastes with fluoride,” says Crocker. You’ll also be avoiding artificial preservatives, sweeteners and dyes.

7. What’s inside your toothpaste might surprise you.

You may not recognize the names listed on the side of the tube, but ingredients like seaweed and detergent can be found in many fluoride toothpastes. According to the ADA, common thickening agents include seaweed colloids, mineral colloids and natural gums. And for that quintessential foaming action, most products rely on detergents such as sodium lauryl sulfate—also found in many shampoos and body washes—that are deemed 100 percent safe and effective by the ADA.

8. Pastes or gels—they all do the trick.

You may have heard that one works better than the other but, according to the experts, they all clean teeth equally well. “Other than flavor, texture and how it makes a person feel, there aren’t any major differences among the various forms,” says Crocker. “I think it comes down to personal preference, which might come through trial and error. I encourage my patients to use whichever product encourages them to brush.”

Free Will

Every existent acts causally in accordance with its identity from electrons to brain neurons to conscious minds. The world is entirely determined in a physical sense, but the question of free will boils down to a question of context.

Within the context of your mind, your consciousness is not a bunch of atoms held together in a particular way, but a perceptual and rational faculty that processes percepts into concepts from the lowest to the highest. This includes the creative process and problem solving. There is never something created from nothing -- there is no such thing as a divine inspiration; it is all a rearrangement of what was previously there.

Both within the context of consciousness and the context of interpersonal relations, people do have free will. This means that they do make choices, they act on those choices, and they are responsible for those choices.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Faith is Blinder

If love is blind, then faith is blinder

I love you undoubtedly but my faith wonders
Whether or not your heart is trustworthy
Because I'm sure mine is, don't you worry

In your eyes I see that you love me
In your embrace I see that you care
In your smile I see that you adore me
But I fear your heart's something I share

I want to convince myself that you are faithful
That you will never wander or be ungreatful
My faith is dangling from a thin wire
I'm taking chances with dangerous fire

My love is blind, my faith should be blinder
I love you without question
But my faith has changing colors

Traffic Jam!

China's nine-day traffic jam stretches 100km

Vehicles on the road through the central business district in Beijing on August 4. Thousands of vehicles …Huge China Traffic Jam Mon Aug 23, 9:18 am ET

BEIJING (AFP) – Thousands of vehicles were bogged down Monday in a more than 100-kilometre (62-mile) traffic jam leading to Beijing that has lasted nine days and highlights China's growing road congestion woes.
The Beijing-Tibet expressway slowed to a crawl on August 14 due to a spike in traffic by cargo-bearing heavy trucks heading to the capital, and compounded by road maintenance work that began five days later, the Global Times said.

The state-run newspaper said the jam between Beijing and Jining city had given birth to a mini-economy with local merchants capitalising on the stranded drivers' predicament by selling them water and food at inflated prices.

That stretch of highway linking Beijing with the northern province of Hebei and the Inner Mongolia region has become increasingly prone to massive jams as the capital of more than 20 million people sucks in huge shipments of goods.

Traffic slowed to a snail's pace in June and July for nearly a month, according to earlier press reports.

The latest clog has been worsened by the road improvement project, made necessary by highway damage caused by a steady increase in cargo traffic, the Global Times said.

China has embarked in recent years on a huge expansion of its national road system but soaring traffic periodically overwhelms the grid.

The congestion was expected to last into mid-September as the road project will not be finished until then, the newspaper said.

The roadway is a major artery for the supply of produce, coal and other goods to Beijing.

Flowing...

Me on 23 Aug

The day was good. You know how they say that a lion lays low before attacking.. Thats exactly how the situation is right now. The lioness is ready to strike at any time.

Sceptisicm? Maybe. Unfortunately, these are the people known to behave in self centered manner. Wonder what they get. Self satisfaction? I dont know. I dont think I want to know either. I'm going to keep my head down and shoulder high.

There is a slight unjust going on. Why must one be granted a privillege beyond others. Are you that good? What did you do to make this possible? She is like a puppet for crying out loud. She is so into herself right now that she cant see through you and your clever scheme. How could you do such a thing to her? Doesnt she mean anything? Isnt she your friend? Gosh, what a world. Screwed up corporate world.

One can only hope to stay clear of this lioness's sight. Im going to do just that!

Integrity

Integrity is the virtue of practicing what one preaches. Or more importantly, practicing what one believes is right. A 'man of principle' is not a man who understands a principle, but a man who understands, accepts, and lives by a principle. There are many reasons why integrity is a virtue.

The first and most important reason to practice one's beliefs is that if they are right, you will be benefiting your own life. To understand other virtues or principles, and not act by them, is destructive. It is an act against your own best interest. Any deviation from what you know to be right is an attack on your own life.

The second reason to practice integrity is that it is an affirmation that your ideas benefit your life. To act contrary to your own knowledge is accepting the premise that morality is somehow different from you own self interest, and that bypassing morality will somehow make your life better. Instead of seeing morality as a tool for survival, you see it as a restriction that make life more difficult. Every act that violates your integrity weakens the moral habit, until your emotions are unaligned with your thoughts. Further, it is an attack on the efficacy of one's mind. To act against your own ideas is to claim your own incompetence, or to claim the general inadequacy of reason to guide your life. Since reason is your means of survival, you will be abandoning your life.

A third reason to practice integrity is in dealing with others. A man who practices what he preaches is predictable, and few will feel threatened by it. Trust can develop, since others will come to realize you are consistently virtuous. To act without integrity, even occasionally, will leave others distrustful. This can negatively impact one's life in a number of ways. People won't allow themselves to become emotionally close to you. They won't trust that you'll pay back debts. They'll always fear your betrayal.

Me on 22 Aug

The day was relaxing. I spent the day shopping..clothes, handbag, books..girls day out. No thinking, nothing. No worrying, nothing. Just want to enjoy the day. Tomorrow is going to be hell at work with a significant event going on. I could only hope everything would go on well.

Watching Desperate Housewives. Are these real? All the sleeping around, around the block that is. Is people livesthat desperate as portrayed on this show. Wow! It really says something doesn't it. How life intertwines with each other. Its amazing how this show could runs for years when good shows are being cancelled. Guess sex has its appeal even if its in a show.

Going to bed now. I have an early day. Time to face another week of turbulence. Time just flies when its the weekend.
